Arsenal reportedly aware of potential Bukayo Saka contract struggle

Arsenal are reportedly fully aware that they face a battle to keep Bukayo Saka at the club amid reported interest from several top clubs in Europe.

The left-sided star has been one of the Premier League’s breakout players this season. As reported by The Telegraph in March, securing Saka to a new deal was one of his main priorities. The report claimed Arsenal wanted to increase his current £7,000-a-week deal which expires in the summer of 2021 in order to fend off interest from other clubs. The Sun have reported Arsenal could offer him a deal in the region of £35,000-a-week to secure his services.

Now, according to The Guardian, Arsenal are aware they ‘might not have it all their own way’ when it comes to securing the 18-year-old down to a new deal.

Saka would be able to leave Arsenal for a compensation fee next summer if the Gunners cannot secure a new contract. As reported by the Daily Mail, Liverpool, Manchester United and Bayern Munich are all keen on the talented full-back, who has been a revelation this season.

Arsenal boss Arteta has made it clear, as relayed on the club’s official website, that securing Saka to a new deal is a priority. The Spaniard is a huge fan of Saka. As quoted by Metro, he showered praise on Saka after a Europa League clash with Olympiakos earlier this season.

“He’s not someone who hides. He’s got the vision and the ability to execute when the spaces are really tight. That’s a gift.”

But it is clear that Arsenal are fearful that they may not be able to convince Saka of an Emirates stay with the likes of Liverpool and Bayern keen.

If that does prove to be the case, then Arsenal will have to consider selling Saka in the next transfer window rather than risk running the gauntlet of a tribunal-set fee.
