Arsenal have reportedly made contact to Premier League club Everton about their teenage prospect Thierry Small, who is a highly-rated talent coming through the academy ranks on Merseyside.
According to the Daily Mail, the Gunners have asked to be kept informed on the 16-year-old’s situation amid interest from a host of clubs across Europe.
It is claimed that Bundesliga heavyweights Bayern Munich have made “concrete interest” in the English youngster, plus Juventus, Wolfsburg, Valencia, Monaco and Benfica are also keen on his potential signature.
The report explains that Everton are trying to keep their defender by offering him a three-year deal to remain at Goodison Park, but do have a tough battle to convince him to sign.
Small joined the Toffees back at the age of 11 from West Brom and the Mail’s report has drawn comparisons between him and Bayern Munich speedster Alphonso Davies.
Davies, 20, is a Champions League sensation that helped Bayern win the European crown last season and is an attack-minded left-back that has become a superstar in the last year as a top defender.
Small is also an attacking left-back that is shinning in Everton’s Under-23s and Under-18s side this season, which has alerted some top clubs to him.
Arsenal should always be on the scout for the best rising talents around and they’ve got a senior manager Mikel Arteta that will be able to help attract rising stars, as he’s proven on a number of occasions that’s he prepared to give young talents from the academy and opportunity to step up at the Emirates Stadium.
Small may be weighing up his options right now and he’ll see Bayern as a super power that helped transform Davies into a household name, while Everton’s path at left-back is blocked by Lucas Digne and Niels Nkounkou.
