Arsenal reportedly close to landing 'unbelievable' 6ft 3in striker, he's a serious 'threat'

Arsenal are reportedly closing in on a loan-to-buy deal for Tammy Abraham.

According to The Sun, the Gunners are set to land the Chelsea ace ahead of Spurs and West Ham.

Arsenal would be signing Abraham on an initial loan deal with a £40million obligation to buy, claims the report.

However, the outlet also suggests the obligation to buy would be triggered if the player reaches a pre-set amount of appearances.

This would take Abraham’s wages of around £80,000-a-week off Chelsea’s wage bill to help with financing other areas of the squad.

Tammy Abraham: The story so far

Abraham has enjoyed a successful career so far after coming through the ranks at Stamford Bridge.

He took in three loan stints, two of which were especially fruitful.

Abraham scored 23 Championship goals at Bristol City in 2016-17, helping them survive in the second tier, plus three more in the League Cup.

As a result, he won a clean sweep of club awards – Player of the Year, Young Player of the Year and Top Goalscorer.

The following season, Abraham played for Premier League Swansea, where he scored eight goals in 39 appearances across all competitions.

Sadly, the 6ft 3in ace couldn’t prevent them from being relegated that season.

In 2018-19, Abraham linked up with Aston Villa and, like at Bristol City, was sensational, scoring 26 Championship goals en route to promotion.

Since then, he has become a regular at Chelsea, making 79 first-team appearances over the past two seasons.

Abraham claimed 18 goals and six assists in 2019-20, and 12 goals and six assists last season.

Arsenal about to land player Jack Grealish deemed “unbelievable”?

Aston Villa captain and England international Jack Grealish played alongside Abraham in claret and blue.

And Grealish could not believe the levels Abraham showcased during his time with the Midlands club.

In a Q&A session on his Instagram, as per, Grealish said Abraham was “unbelievable”.

“Couldn’t believe how good he was with the ball for how tall he is,” he added. “Loved playing with him.”

In October 2019, Rio Ferdinand compared Abraham to Didier Drogba.

“I saw elements in Tammy’s game today that I hadn’t seen as much that I’d have liked to,” Ferdinand said on BT Sport, via

“His hold-up play, coming to the ball and bringing others into play.

“First half, one ball went up to him, Didier Drogba-esque, chests it down for someone, runs on for the next phase – I think he’s developing nicely.

“He’s scoring goals, he’s scoring different types of goals and I think he’s a threat.”
