Report: Arsenal now refusing to pay agent fee required to sign ‘ridiculous’ player
Arsenal are still keen on landing Dusan Vlahovic from Fiorentina this month but will have to fork out a huge fee to his agent if they are to complete the deal.
The Serbian is top of the shopping list for Mikel Arteta and Edu. The Gunners have already reportedly put a bid in for Vlahovic, who is yet to decide where he wants to go next. In recent days, it has become clear that Fiorentina are open to selling their star striker this month.
But on top of a fee in excess of £60m, Arsenal will also have to fork out a whopping £15m to Vlahovic’s agent if he is to come to London. According to Ansa, that is the fee Vlahovic’s agent is asking for and Ansa state that they will not be budging from that demand. For the Gunners’ part, it’s suggest they won’t be meeting that demand either.
It adds further complications to a deal already looking pricey for any potential buyers. Vlahovic is expected to command big wages as well as his transfer fee. An extra £15m on top, then, seems to be excessive.
Vlahovic has shot to the forefront of everyone’s minds in Europe this season. His form has continued in earnest from last season, and he’s already scored 16 goals in Serie A. Over in England, pundits have been purring over him, with Micah Richards labelling Vlahovic as a ‘ridiculous player’.
TBR’s View: Dusan Vlahovic Agents Playing Arsenal And The Rest Of The Market
This is typical supply and demand economics. Vlahovic’s entourage know a wealth of Europe’s best want him, so with that, they’re just increasing the asking price.
If anyone wants Vlahovic, they are basically saying the supply is there with the player, but their demands must be met.
It’s a risky play, really. It could force some clubs to walk away and for Fiorentina, it’s a nightmare. They’ll want a big sale, but the agent fee just ramps things up for Arsenal and other potential buyers.
Once again, this is a fresh twist in an already messy looking saga.
