Arsenal players confused by Emery’s tactics during run of three recent losses

Arsenal’s players are becoming confused by Unai Emery’s tactics and losing some degree of faith in his decisions, according to the Telegraph.

They report that after three straight defeats in the Premier League – against Crystal Palace, Wolves and Leicester – some of the decisions made by the Spanish manager have baffled the squad.

Emery took a gamble against Palace, playing Mo Elneny, Matteo Guendouzi and Carl Jenkinson – which backfired – and his continued faith in Shkodran Mustafi is also hampering the squad.

The Gunners let in nine goals in the three aforementioned losses and Emery’s tinkering – which has likely been influenced by the Europa League – has not worked.

Emery has been able to get through the season competing at home and abroad with largely the substandard squad he inherited from Arsene Wenger, but perhaps the cracks are starting to show at the worst possible time.

The big risk was the Palace selection – but it was understandable because Arsenal should have won the match regardless – and after that, Emery has been battling to find a formula to solve his side’s poor away form.

As he has for much of the season, he’s been unable to rectify that, but the players should keep the faith with a man who is clearly a good manager and desperate to help the club succeed again.
