Report: Arsenal ready to offer £20m plus Thomas Partey to land 'dominant' midfield talent
Reports coming from Italy are suggesting Arsenal are preparing a massive offer involving Thomas Partey to sign AC Milan’s Ismael Bennacer.
Bennacer was formerly of Arsenal and his form is said to have caught the eye of the Gunners once again. Calciomercato claims that Edu is now preparing a massive offer.
Calciomercato reports how Arsenal are said to be ready to offer £20m to Milan, plus Thomas Partey, as they bid to take Bennacer away from the Serie A giants.
It would be a huge move from the Gunners if the reports are true. Partey has been a key player for Mikel Arteta and it would be bizarre right now to see him sold by the club. Of course, should Arsenal really want Bennacer signed, then they might feel offering up another star is necessary.
Bennacer was linked with a move to Liverpool a few months back but has remained in Milan so far.
Adding Partey to any potential £20m offer would see the offer worth in the region of £50m for Milan. However, the Rossoneri are believed to want even more.
TBR’s View: No way Arsenal swap Thomas Partey for Bennacer
There are some reports you really find hard to get your head around and this is one of them.
For Arsenal to move Thomas Partey on now would seem ridiculous. He is, in some people’s eyes, their best player and there is simply no reason to sell him.
Even if Bennacer is brilliant, the idea of swapping Partey plus some money is so odd. Realistically, Arsenal need to be trying to add Bennacer to play with Partey, not instead of.
It would be truly amazing if this one happened. And if it did, then you can expect some serious problems from the Arsenal fans.
