It might only be just over 15 years since Arsenal opened The Emirates stadium, but the club are already considering a revamp of the ground over fears it’s becoming quickly outdated.

Arsenal’s new home has seen some big nights and moments and has proven a fitting stadium for the club ever since they left the iconic Highbury. Holding just over 60,000 fans, The Emirates remains one of the premier grounds in the English game and on its day, can create quite the atmosphere.

However, according to reports today, the Gunners could be set to spruce things up a bit at The Emirates.

According to today’s newsletter from The Independent’s Miguel Delaney, Arsenal are considering giving the exterior of the stadium something of an overhaul. It’s claimed there are concerns about things already appearing dated, and that some of the current murals could be replaced.

However, nothing will be done without fan consultation. It’s said that everything is open for discussion, and no action will be taken without listening to supporters first and foremost.

Recent seasons have seen Arsenal’s closest rivals, Spurs, unveil a state of the art stadium in North London.

It simply cannot be denied that Tottenham have set the benchmark for new stadia in England. Everyone who goes there says what an experience it is. It creates atmosphere, offers a great fan service, and crucially, is aesthetically pleasing.

It does seem that this might be influencing Arsenal’s decision here. The last thing they’ll want is their biggest rivals getting ahead of the game, especially when it comes to their stadium.

It’s good to see that the Gunners won’t just press on, though. Fan voice is important in these sorts of matter and it’s refreshing to read. Hopefully, the Arsenal board can come to a conclusion to suit all eventually.
