Arsenal are considering a shock move for Bordeaux boss Paulo Sousa, according to Tuttomercatoweb.
Sousa has a £1.7 million release clause in his contract that Arsenal will need to pay if they are to appoint the Portuguese manager.
The Gunners currently have Freddie Ljungberg in charge on an interim basis following the sacking of Unai Emery last month.
Sousa has been in charge of the Ligue 1 outfit since March and after seeing off the threat of relegation, he has the club in fifth place this season.

Arsenal’s season has been nothing short of disastrous so far and last night’s three points against West Ham came at a good time.
The 3-1 win came courtesy of goals from Gabriel Martinelli, Nicolas Pepe and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Sousa has managed in England before at Championship level. He had spells with QPR, Swansea and Leicester without any real success.
His appointment at a club the size of Arsenal wouldn’t exactly excite supporters and they have vented their frustrations on Twitter.

The Gunners need direction and stability and Sousa doesn’t really stick around anywhere for long.
Alongside that, he hasn’t really achieved much in management and most supporters would love a more established manager taking over.
Here is a selection of tweets following the link to Sousa from disgruntled Arsenal supporters:
