Arsenal ‘out’ of Carrasco race, but available Real Madrid star could be alternative

Arsenal have been priced out of a move to sign long-term transfer target Yannick Carrasco, according to The Sun.

The Belgian winger has been priced at £30 million by Dalian Yifang, and the Gunners only have around £45 million to spend this summer.

Unless there can be some serious negotiation, Arsenal will need to walk away from the deal.

Unai Emery needs to be shrewd this summer, and shelling out £30 million on Carrasco would massively hinder his attempts to rebuild his squad with his small budget.

Arsenal will now need to seek cheaper alternatives – luckily for Emery, Real Madrid have just made one available.

Spanish winger Lucas Vasquez is one of a number of players who have been deemed surplus to requirements at the Bernabeu.

Los Blancos are reported by Marca to be ‘open to offers’ for the former Espanyol loanee.

Real are therefore open to offers, and Arsenal should consider a move as an alternative to Carrasco.

What Real Madrid would accept is not currently known, but he should be cheaper than the £30 million-rated Belgian.

Vazquez has been a useful squad player for Madrid. In 183 games he has scored 21 goals and made 44 assists.

While they are not the greatest statistics, his work rate and versatility make him an option for Emery, who apparently ‘loves’ the player’s direct style (Marca, 2018).
