Arsenal are reportedly closing in on tying Ben White down to a new contract at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners defender has impressed since making the move to N5 from Brighton back in 2021.

Arsenal reportedly spent £50million on bringing White to the Emirates Stadium, and he has done very well for the north Londoners.

The 25-year-old is one of the first names on Mikel Arteta’s team sheet, and has 111 senior Arsenal appearances to his name.

White began his Gunners career as a centre-back, but over the past 18 months, he has played at right-back, becoming first-choice in that position.

Now, according to Rudy Galetti, Arsenal have been in talks with White’s camp over a new contract, and things are heading in the right direction.

White is apparently “close to renewing his current contract that expires in 2026: just last few details under discussion,” the journalist wrote on X.

In addition, Galetti also provided an update on Jakub Kiwior. Namely, that he’s unlikely to leave Arsenal in the January transfer window.

Good news as Arsenal set to secure long-term services of another top player

It’s great to hear that White is getting closer to penning a new contract at Arsenal.

With two-and-a-half years remaining, this is usually the time when other clubs start circling in hope of turning the player’s head.

An extension on White’s current deal, reportedly worth £120,000-a-week at present, will quickly nip any potential speculation in the bud.

Arsenal have got pretty good at securing the futures of their top talents over the past few years.

The likes of Martin Odegaard, William Saliba, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli have all penned new Gunners deals in recent months.

Other than White, Arsenal are reportedly also planning to offer a new deal to fellow defender Takehiro Tomiyasu.

Keeping a good squad together and enabling the players to grow and prosper as a team is crucial for any top club.
