According to TeamTalk, Arsenal have been offered the chance to sign experienced Cape Verde striker, Ze Luis, as a stop-gap until the summer transfer window rolls around.

The Gunners failed to land a striker during the January window and are left with little in the way of striking options in the squad. The position was further decimated thanks to two January outgoings, as both Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Folarin Balogun left north London.

Arsenal are expected to push again in the summer. However, TeamTalk have claimed that all is not quite lost for Arsenal, and that Cape Verde striker Ze Luis has been offered to them. It’s claimed the 31-year-old is being touted to a number of clubs, including those from Turkey, but Arsenal are among the teams mentioned.

Ze Luis has enjoyed a successful career in Europe. He’s won the league in both Portugal and Russia and has hit just shy of 100 goals in his career. He’s currently without a club after leaving Lokomotiv Moscow.

TBR’s View: Arsenal Better Playing Balogun Or Martinelli

It’s hardly an inspiring signing this, is it? A 31-year-old striker without a club who will be nothing more than a stop-gap for the Gunners.

The club would be better utilising Balogun. Sure, he is on loan with Middlesbrough, but it would be better to develop one of their own then spend wages on an ageing striker like Ze Luis.

Further, Gabi Martinelli is more than capable down the middle too. On the whole, there just seems to be better options out there for the Gunners at this moment in time.
