Arsenal now seriously interested in right-back Ivan Fresneda
Arsenal are seriously interested in signing young right-back Ivan Fresneda, and have made their desire to land the Real Valladolid starlet clear in the last few days, according to a report from The Telegraph.
The Gunners are still awaiting their first signing of the January transfer window. For much of the last few months, it had appeared inevitable that Mykhaylo Mudryk would end up joining the club.
Mudryk has now headed elsewhere. But Arsenal are ready to turn their attention to other targets, including Fresneda.
Arsenal have made desire to land Ivan Fresneda clear
The 18-year-old is wanted by a host of clubs across Europe, including Newcastle. Arsenal meanwhile, have made it clear in the last few days that they are seriously interested in a potential deal.
Real Valladolid could sell Fresneda during the January transfer window, The Telegraph reports. However, the Gunners may hold off making a move until the end of the season – if they decide to make a bid for the youngster.
The fee meanwhile, could be up to £15 million unless a bidding war ensues.
Arsenal are well-stocked at right-back right now. Ben White has been a revelation in the role this season. And Takehiro Tomiyasu has been a fan favourite throughout his time in North London.
Cedric Soares also remains at the Emirates. And he has proved to be a very good squad player during his time with the Gunners.
But Fresneda looks to be an extremely exciting talent. His boss Pacheta has suggested that he is a ‘fantastic‘ prospect. And the amount of interest in him tells its own story.
If there is a chance that he is likely to move elsewhere this month, perhaps Arsenal should look to accelerate their plans and make their move before they miss out.
