Arsenal now reportedly want to sign ‘sensational’ winger who’s been compared to Alexis Sanchez

Arsenal have been linked with Wolves ace Pedro Neto in recent days.

The Gunners have enjoyed a fruitful summer on the transfer front, but a new senior winger continues to elude them.

Arsenal reportedly tried to sign Raphinha earlier this summer, but he went to Barcelona.

The Gunners have also been linked with the likes of Raheem Sterling and Serge Gnabry, now no longer available.

But now, an interesting lead has opened up for Arsenal, with Neto seemingly emerging as a Gunners target.

Last week, the Daily Express reported that the Gunners have a ‘long-standing interest’ in the 22-year-old.

This week, 90Min reported that intermediaries have been making it known to a number of clubs Neto could very well be available at the right price.

Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United have apparently made aware that Neto could be available and that has peaked some interest.

The Gunners and their rivals are all in the market for right-sided forwards, added the report.

‘Continuous headache for opposing players’

Neto would be a superb signing for Arsenal given his talent, attitude, and potential.

In 2021, scouting website Breaking the Lines wrote: “Neto’s acute agility, electric acceleration over short distances and positional intelligence of a man twice his age causes continuous headache for opposing players, whether they are scrambling in his slipstream as he sprints clear or rushing to release the ball as he bears down on them menacingly.”

Meanwhile, Arsenal legend Thierry Henry praised the Portuguese talent in March last year.

“I like him a lot,” Henry said on Sky Sports, via the Birmingham Mail, during the Wolves v Liverpool match coverage.

“Especially the situation that he found himself in with (Raul) Jimenez being injured and Diogo Jota now playing for the other side tonight.

“It’s not easy to have everything on your shoulders. What I like is he’s not scared to beat people on the outside. I like it, he can cross with his right, finish with his left.

“He’s always looking to have a go and attack the defender – always on the front foot.

“It’s not easy to do this at such a young age, in a team where you’re not often in possession and dominating games. I think he’s performed extremely well.”

Jamie Redknapp has called Neto “sensational“. And on Twitter, fans have compared Neto to the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Eden Hazard and Leroy Sane.
