Arsenal now reportedly eyeing 21-year-old World Cup gem who plays like Gabriel Jesus
With the World Cup in full swing, Arsenal have an outstanding shop window to look at ahead of January.
The Gunners made several superb signings in summer, but failed to get any late new recruits over the line.
Luckily, this hasn’t hampered Arsenal in the slightest, with the club top of the Premier League table.
And now, with the January transfer window on the horizon, Mikel Arteta and Edu can bolster their ranks.
There’s certainly scope for Arsenal to bring in first-team ready players, potentially on the wings and in midfield.
However, the Gunners could also see if any young talents stand out, and look to snap them up.
According to GiveMeSport, Arsenal have indeed been monitoring one player who’s now at the World Cup.
The player in question is FC Dallas and United States forward Jesus Ferreira.
‘An instinctive finisher that loves to press’
‘One of the few USMNT starters to ply his trade in MLS, Ferreira has big potential to shine at this tournament,’ wrote Dean Jones.
‘Unlike many others in the side, he has not yet been lured to Europe.
‘He has been working on himself at FC Dallas to build belief and confidence that will help his natural attributes shine through and a goal early in the tournament would help with that.
‘He is an instinctive finisher that loves to press and will thrive on the chances set up by Christian Pulisic, Gio Reyna and Brenden Aaronson.
‘Arsenal have scouted him while Bundesliga clubs have an eye on him too.’
Ferreira has an impressive 18 goals and six assists from 38 club appearances this season.
And his record for the USMNT is also superb – seven goals and four assists from 15 caps.
Ferreira has compared himself to Arsenal star Gabriel Jesus, in conversation with Alexi Lalas’ State of the Union podcast.
“I think he’s a similar type style that comes down and creates for teammates and can assist and can score in the box,” said the 21-year-old.
Ferreira has also been likened to Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino.
All in all, he seems like a great shout for Arsenal – after all, who better to learn from and cover for than Jesus himself?
