Journalist Ciro Venetaro claims Arsenal are now monitoring Roma midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo – a player Antonio Conte really wanted at Tottenham Hotspur over the summer.
Spurs were linked with a possible move for Zaniolo during the recent transfer window. But the switch never materialised.
Calciomercato even reported that Conte kept telling Fabio Paratici to sign the ‘incredible’ Zaniolo.
Now it seems that Arsenal are monitoring the 23-year-old’s situation in Rome due to issues surrounding his contract renewal.

Arsenal monitoring Zaniolo
Italian journalist Venerato spoke on Domenica Sportiva about Zaniolo’s contract situation with Roma, as transcribed by Sport Witness.
The player and Roma are currently apart on their demands over a new deal, including his possible salary and bonuses.
Zaniolo’s contract runs until 2024 and Jose Mournho’s men are keen to add a release clause worth around £42.8 million.
While the midfielder and Roma go back and forth in contract negotiations, Arsenal and Juventus are apparently monitoring the situation. Mikel Arteta’s men could look at Zaniolo as an ideal opportunity due to his contract running down.

The Italy international has endured a difficult few seasons in Rome after suffering cruciate ligament injuries to both of his knees. But the talented midfielder has bounced back brilliantly and helped Mournho’s men to a Europa Conference League title last season.
Zaniolo scored the winning goal in the final against Dutch outfit Feyenoord to round-off an impressive campaign.
Arsenal are in need of adding depth to their midfield and wide positions. With Zaniolo being able to play in attacking midfield and across the frontline, he could tick a few boxes for the Gunners.
But there’s no doubt that they will face competition from Spurs, with Conte said to be a huge fan of the player.
