Report: Arsenal now at front of the queue to sign 'astonishingly gifted' £66m World Cup star

Arsenal are reportedly in the lead and front of the queue when it comes to trying to sign Lazio star, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.

A report from Gazzetta dello Sport this morning claims it is indeed Arsenal who are front and centre when it comes to signing Milinkovic-Savic.

The midfielder, who is said to be valued at at least £66m by Lazio, is seen as one of the best prospects in the European market when it comes to midfielders. Arsenal’s interest in the Serbian is nothing brand new, given they were linked with a move for him just earlier this week. A separate report from TuttoJuve in midweek claimed that Arsenal were going to make a push for Milinkovic-Savic in January.

Arsenal are expected to go for a few new players in January. A winger and midfielder have long been seen as a priority.

With Gabriel Jesus also now injured, Arsenal could also make a move to sign a new centre-forward.

In terms of Milinkovic-Savic, he would add steel and quality to the midfield area. Dubbed by 90Min as an ‘astonishingly gifted’ midfield player, the 27-year-old has been eyed by PL clubs for some time now.

Whether or not Arsenal do indeed splash out, remains to be seen.

TBR’s View: Milinkovic-Savic to Arsenal is the one

Now this would be a statement signing. Milinkovic-Savic has a bit of everything in the locker and he certainly makes Arsenal a better team.

A midfield of Partey, Xhaka and Milinkovic-Savic turns Arsenal into contenders for titles and cups, even more so than they are right now.

For the Gunners board, the time is now really. They have a golden chance at success. And if they can add players like Milinkovic-Savic, then it only improves those chances.

Certainly, if Arsenal get this over the line, then Gunners fans will be delighted.
