Arsenal boss Unai Emery is keen to add Newcastle star Ayoze Perez to his squad this summer, according to the Italian news outlet FC Inter News.

According to Corriere dello Sport, as quoted by Sport Witness, the Magpies performer could leave St James’ Park for a paltry £25 million during the transfer window.

This news is set to alert several clubs with Arsenal seemingly the latest to express an interest in his services.

The Gunners looks set to miss out on the Champions League through a top-four finish; although they could still earn access by winning the Europa League.

A 25-year-old forward, he has 12 goals and four assists this season and with Arsenal short on wide options, the interest makes perfect sense.

The report suggests that clubs in Italy and Spain will be interested in Perez, whilst other English clubs could show their hand in the coming months.

Perez has been at Newcastle since 2014 when he signed from Tenerife. In five years with the club, he has 47 goals from 192 appearances.

TBR Verdict

Arsenal signing Perez certainly makes sense. The Gunners are desperate for some width and since the turn of the year the Spaniard has excelled out wide.

The Gunners haven’t challenged for the league title for some years now and that has to change. Signing the Newcastle man would certainly hand them a better chance than they currently have now.

A decisive factor here could be whether or not Arsenal earn a place in the Champions League. If they don’t the budget will be considerably less and that could make Perez unobtainable.

Perez must fancy Arsenal over some of the other touted clubs. The Gunners would certainly be able to offer him regular first-team football and others might see him as more of a peripheral figure.
