Arsenal reportedly hoping to sign star who's just won his club's POTY award for second year in a row
By now, you’d have to be living under a rock not to know that Arsenal are in pursuit of Mykhaylo Mudryk.
Over the past few months, the transfer saga involving the Gunners and the Shakhtar Donetsk star has rumbled on.
Arsenal want Mudryk. Mudryk wants Arsenal. And Shakhtar want big money for their main asset.
According to reports, the Gunners saw a £55million bid for Mudryk rejected by his club earlier this week.
Talks between the two clubs are continuing, according to Shakhtar CEO Serhiy Palkin, as per The Mirror.
There haven’t been any significant updates since then on the transfer front.
However, there has been one update specifically about Mudryk – namely that he’s been voted Shakhtar’s Player of the Year again.
The Ukrainian club took to social media to say they ‘were ready to announce’ the 21-year-old’s latest accolade.
And it was a resounding win too, with 76 percent of the club’s fans naming Mudryk as their POTY for the second year running.
There’s a good chance quite a few Arsenal fans will have been monitoring Shakhtar’s account hoping to catch that all-important ‘we have agreed a deal…’ announcement if it happens.
While this isn’t it, it goes to show just how good Mudryk is, and how highly the club’s fans rate him.
We’re not even in January yet and already the transfer window is gearing up to be an exciting one.
Already one Premier League club has struck a high-profile deal, with Liverpool landing Cody Gakpo.
Hopefully Arsenal will be next in line to land a top talent. And things do seem to be progressing in the right direction.
