Arsenal must move for Memphis Depay as £30m Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang replacement – TBR View

It is being suggested that Lyon’s Dutch forward Memphis Depay is on his way out of the club this summer.

ESPN is claiming that the enigmatic frontman has rejected all new contract offers from the French side and is now available for around £30 million this summer, as the club do not want to lose him for nothing next summer.

It is suggested he wants to join a bigger club, especially with Lyon now doomed to play no European football next season.

So should Arsenal swoop for Depay as the perfect replacement for the seemingly outgoing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang?

The Gabon star is in the same boat as Depay. His contract expires in a little over a year and it appears no new deal can be agreed in North London.

A recent report from The Sun suggested Arsenal were now looking for just £30 million to sell Aubameyang, as they cut their price-tag on the star striker. That would give them enough money to replace him with Depay.

Depay could fill exactly the same role as Aubameyang, capable of playing upfront or from the left-hand side and this is a far improved version of the Depay who struggled in England with Manchester United.

At just £30 million, the 26-year-old might be the best potential option available on the market to swap for Aubameyang at Arsenal.
