Report: Arsenal think they're close to signing 'exceptional' £40m player, Edu thinks his bid is enough

Arsenal believe they are moving closer to signing Gabriel Jesus, with The Sun reporting that the Gunners are increasingly confident over a move.

Manchester City star Jesus has emerged as the very top target for Arsenal this summer. The Gunners’ hunt for a new number nine has led them far and wide, but Jesus is said to be the number one target. And according to The Sun, Edu thinks he might have got his man.

The report claims that Arsenal believe their offer of around £40m will be enough to convince City to part ways with the ‘exceptional‘ Brazilian striker.

Jesus is said to be pushing for an exit from The Etihad after Pep Guardiola made the move to sign Erling Haaland this summer. The Norwegian striker is set to be the main man in the number nine role, leaving Jesus weighing up his options once again. City have also signed Julian Alvarez, another attacking player.

Arsenal, meanwhile, are desperate to get a new number nine through the door. And while they can’t offer Jesus Champions League football, they can guarantee he’ll be the main man up top. More so, given Alex Lacazette has confirmed his exit from the club as well.

TBR’s View: Arsenal Need To Really Push To Sign Gabriel Jesus

While the international break is happening and deals are hard to do, Edu and Arsenal need to be on red alert to act as quickly as possible to sign Jesus.

Time is of the essence and they cannot wait around like they did in January. Before they know it, another club will move in for Jesus and the game will be up again.

In terms of ideal players, Gabriel Jesus is fine as a signing for Arsenal. And in fairness, if it is just £40m, then it’s quite the bargain in modern day football.
