Despite signing both Thomas Partey and Gabriel Magalhaes in the summer transfer window, the way Arsenal have performed in the opening few months of the season suggests they didn’t do enough business.
Summer signings such as Willian, Cedric Shares, Runar Alex Runarsson have all flopped and it’s currently a squad that looks extremely short of the levels expected at the Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners are sat 15th in the Premier League table as it stands and one of their main problems this season has been creating enough going forward.
Mikel Arteta’s side have scored just 12 goals in their 14 league games so far, which is proof they needed to add some creativity to their squad in the summer window and they are crying out for an extra attacking spark.
With Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang having a small dip in form, it’s left the North London club completely short of attacking intent and they have only in the past week been given the boost of young attacker Gabriel Martinelli returning from injury.
Arsenal were linked with 25-year-old attacker Said Benrahma in the summer window, someone who with hindsight would’ve been a brilliant addition at the Emirates.

The Mirror claimed back in October that Arsenal were one of the clubs eyeing Benrahma, but he ended up completing a move from Brentford to West Ham before the window closed.
Benrahma joined West Ham on a £5million loan deal which included a £20million obligation to buy (BBC) and he’s looked impressive since stepping up from the Championship to the Premier League.
The Algerian left-winger was dazzling in the second-tier with Brentford and he’s shown glimpses in the early stages of his West Ham career that he’s going to be a major success, managing two assists so far.
He’s an eye-catching flair player that makes things happen in the final third with his trickery, bravery and directness, which are all attributes that Arsenal are crying out for.
Benrahma may not yet be at the bracket of an elite player, but he’s got all the potential to be just that over time and is someone that Arsenal really missed out on.
