Mikel Arteta looks to be edging closer to being handed the managerial position at Arsenal.

According to the Independent, talks are now progressing towards an advanced stage.

The former player is discussing potential transfers ahead of taking the job. He could be officially announced prior to the weekend.

It’s also being mentioned that the club is planning to let Arteta have a clear-out.

A lack of effort has been evident at the Emirates Stadium this season.

Granit Xhaka and Mesut Ozil are just two players who have been criticised by the club’s long-suffering supporters.

It’s pretty clear looking at social media that the fanbase would welcome a clearing of the decks.

Arsenal have underachieved for far too long and Arteta must come in and rule with an iron fist as far as his squad is concerned.
