Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has admitted that Gabriel Jesus is not happy about his current scoring drought.

The Gunners striker has been sensational since arriving at the Emirates Stadium in the summer.

Jesus hit the ground running for Arsenal, registering five goals in his first eight Premier League games.

Since then, however, the Brazilian has struggled to find the back of the net.

That said, Jesus has been contributing with assists and all-round great play.

This was the case in Arsenal’s 1-0 Europa League win over FC Zurich on Thursday night.

His link-up play was superb as always, and he was very unlucky not to get on the scoresheet with his chances.

Arteta, speaking to BT Sport – as transcribed by BBC Sport – was supportive of his striker.

Admitting Jesus is indeed bothered by his lack of goals in recent days, the Arsenal boss backed him to come good.

“It does bother him for sure [Gabriel Jesus not scoring for eight games],” said Arteta.

“When he scores two he wants to score four. Today he had a couple of good chances.

“But what he generates for the team is amazing. Last week he gave three assists.

“Today he was involved in every action again. The goals will come.”

There is absolutely no doubting Jesus’ quality – his efforts for Manchester City over the years are testament to that.

Jesus was prolific in pre-season and early on in the campaign, justifying Arsenal’s wait for a new No. 9.

And even though the £190,000-a-week ace may not be scoring right now, he’s doing everything else, and helping the team win.
