Arsenal boss Unai Emery is desperate to land Manchester United defender Eric Bailly this summer, according to reports in The Sun.
The 25-year-old has fallen down the pecking order under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Old Trafford. He could be moved on this summer to make way for the United incumbent to stamp his own mark on the squad.
The Ivory Coast defender has not played since he was subbed before half-time in a Champions League win over Paris Saint-Germain.
Arsenal boss Emery is desperate to bolster his defensive ranks. He has seen his side ship six in games against Crystal Palace and Wolves this week and it is a clear area of concern.
United signed Bailly for £30 million, according to BBC Sport. It is thought that Arsenal will look to secure a cut-price deal, however, with the Gunners set to start negotiations at £20 million (The Sun).
Bailly would be an intriguing signing for Arsenal, to say the least.
Any player who joins the Gunners from Old Trafford will be under pressure to be a success from the off, due to the rivalry between the two clubs.
Given United’s defensive frailties of late is perhaps a surprise that he hasn’t been restored to action. The Red Devils’ loss could be Arsenal’s gain, however.
Emery has seen his side concede 46 league goals this season and as a result, he knows that he must tighten up next season.
