Tavares’ game time at Arsenal is likely to be impacted by the signing of Oleksandr Zinchenko from Manchester City, who is the latest player to join the club in an already busy window for the Gunners, with Youri Tielemans also linked with a possible move.

Speaking on Sky Sports News, journalist Dharmesh Sheth said “talks are underway” between Arsenal and the Italian club but “there was a bit of work” to be done before an agreement can be reached.
“We understand that Atalanta are interested in signing him on loan, though there’s a bit of discussion on whether there’s an option (to buy) on that loan”.
Tavares was previously linked with a loan move to Brighton this summer, but a source at the south coast club has denied any bid being made for the 22-year-old.
Tavares needs loan to reach required level at Arsenal
It’s not been the easiest start to life in the Premier League for Tavares at Arsenal, being firmly behind Scottish full-back Kieran Tierney in the pecking order at the Emirates.
Arsenal legend Nigel Winterburn said at the end of last season that Tavares, “doesn’t fully understand” the role of a left-back, with his contribution going forward criticised.

Therefore, joining Atalanta – widely regarded as one of the most exciting and attacking teams in Europe – may help Tavares develop the skills required to succeed at Arsenal.
The Serie A side finished outside the European places for the first time in five seasons last year, and play a three at the back system that would see Tavares feature as a wing-back, naturally giving him more opportunities to get forward.
