Arsenal have apparently made their first big move in their bid to try and prize Eden Hazard away from Real Madrid, according to a report from Foot Mercato.
Reports in recent weeks have suggested Arsenal have Hazard on their radar as a potential summer signing. The former Chelsea man has had a miserable time of things in Madrid and is currently out injured for the rest of the season.
However, that doesn’t seem to have put the likes of Arsenal off, and Foot Mercato now claims that a meeting has been held in Madrid this week. That suggests that Edu has flown out to Spain to have a first round of talks, similar to how he conducted business last year to eventually land Martin Odegaard from the La Liga giants.

Hazard, who is now 31, was a star of the show for Chelsea previously but has fallen off a cliff in terms of form and fitness since going to Spain. Reports previously had stated he could now be available for just £33.5m.
Once regarded as an ‘absolute superstar’ while in England, Hazard is in desperate need of regaining his best form.
TBR’s View: Arsenal and Hazard Doesn’t Make Much Sense
It’s not that Eden Hazard isn’t a wonderful player on his day. It’s just that Arsenal have made such a point of signing up and coming younger players that going for a 31-year-old with injury problems is an odd one.
Of course, if he can get fit then he is a world-class player. And Arsenal do need a few of them to really take them to the next level in the game. However, it’s a huge risk this sort of move, especially with the wages set to be involved.
Arsenal are probably better off leaving this one. Hazard isn’t going to be fit until the summer, at which point the deal becomes even riskier.
