Arsenal are keen on the signing of Real Madrid winger Lucas Vazquez, according to Spanish outlet Fichajes.
The 27-year-old has found regular game time hard to come by this season, often being used as a substitute during 2018/19.
Gunners boss Unai Emery would love to pull off the coup of Vazquez as he sets about returning to the Champions League.
Arsenal finished fifth in the Premier League last season and breaking into the top four must be the aim for 2019/20.
It would appear that the Spaniard is surplus to requirements at the Bernabeu and if Emery can pull off a deal it would be a significant signing.
Vazquez is paid £60k-a-week at Real Madrid, according to Total Sportek and even with Arsenal’s restricted budget that would be doable.
Vazquez is the sort of transfer that can make people stand up and take notice of Arsenal once again.
The Spaniard will have one eye on Euro 2020 next summer and being in and out of the team at Real Madrid won’t do himself any favours in terms of making the squad.
Arsenal are desperate to add some width to their squad and Vazquez would certainly do that.
Emery could really do with adding some genuine quality to his ranks and the 27-year-old does have that bit of star quality.
Playing week in week out would kick-start his career and he is a signing that would surely excite the club’s long-suffering supporters.
