Arsenal loanee Hein on Reading coach chased away by fans

Arsenal loanee Karl Hein was part of the Reading squad who saw their bus chased by disgruntled supporters on Wednesday, with the fans telling the players that they were not fit to wear their shirt.

The Royals put an end to a seven-game losing run in the Championship as they drew with Peterborough United at London Road. However, the stalemate may well have felt like another loss.

Veljko Paunovic’s men have not won a game since late November. And they remain just two points above the bottom three.

Below them is a Posh side with a game in hand, as well as a Derby County team who would be much further up the table without a points deduction.

The bottom four have been cut adrift. And in truth, it could have been worse for Reading were it not for Hein on Wednesday.

The Estonia goalkeeper made a number of impressive saves. Both the Reading Chronicle and Berkshire Live described his distribution as ‘erratic’. However, the latter suggested that his shot-stopping was ‘superb’.

It was his first clean sheet for the club in his third appearance. But clearly, it was not the result that the supporters wanted.

Berkshire Live journalist Jonathan Low posted a video on Twitter showing the Reading team bus struggling to leave the ground due to a group of fans.

They proceeded to tell the squad that they were not fit to wear the shirt…

Difficult Reading loan spell should still benefit Hein upon return to Arsenal

In fairness to Hein, he has not signed up to the easiest challenge. Certainly, you can see why fans are so angry. Surely, Derby are favourites to get themselves out of trouble with the momentum that they have.

Reading are now in danger of falling into the third tier for the first time in two decades. And clearly, the fans are worried about what the future holds.

Obviously, Hein is going to struggle to catch Mikel Arteta’s eye while the Royals are towards the bottom of the Championship.

But it may still be a beneficial experience in his career – even if that may not feel like the case after Wednesday.
