Arsenal new-boy Dani Ceballos has been giving his thoughts on his new team-mates and is particularly impressed with the club’s front three.
As per the Daily Mirror, Ceballos named £180,000-a-week (Spotrac) Alexandre Lacazette as the best player at the club, which may surprise some supporters.
He said: “We’ve got a very good, compact side and the three up front really make the difference. You can compare [Pierre-Emerick] Aubameyang to Cristiano [Ronaldo] when he was at Madrid in the sense that he plays close to the goal he lives for scoring.
“He’s very important for us, fundamental. [Nicolas] Pepe is very direct. And [Alexandre] Lacazette, for me, is the best player: he understands the game perfectly and, if he’s 100 per cent, he’s going to give us so much.”
TBR’s View – Ceballos’ comments highlight Lacazette’s all-round game and Aubameyang’s focus on goals
Aubameyang has proved to be the better goalscorer during his time at Arsenal, but Lacazette can do more of the other work required and offers more than goals.
It’s interesting to see Ceballos describe the Frenchman as the better player and it would be intriguing to gauge the opinion of the Arsenal fans who go to the games every week on that one.
Lacazette may have to show his all-round game to act as a foil to Aubameyang and the similarly direct Nicolas Pepe in a similar way to Roberto Firmino at Liverpool.
