Arsenal and Liverpool have made contact with Lyon over the availability of hotshot striker Moussa Dembele, according to L’Equipe, as quoted by the Daily Record.
Manchester United were thought to be the frontrunners for the Frenchman’s signature, having tabled a £35 million offer.
Lyon’s sporting director Juninho has previously insisted that the club’s star striker wouldn’t be sold this summer.
The 22-year-old was in great form last season. In 33 appearances he netted 15 goals and registered five assists.

If the French giants do change their stance on their desire to sell, Celtic could be in line to receive 10 per cent of whatever they recoup for the player.
The Hoops offloaded the player for £19.8 million last summer (Daily Record).
Newly crowned Champions of Europe, Liverpool and Arsenal have only ‘made contact’ with Lyon at this stage and it will be interesting to see if any suitor can tempt Lyon into changing their stubborn stance.
TBR Verdict
It seems highly unlikely at this stage that Lyon will sell their star striker.
After a promising first campaign in France, they will want him to improve on his good start next season.
The 22-year-old doesn’t really need to leave. He is playing regular football and scoring goals which all the youngster can really ask for.

Interest from Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United could well turn his head, although only United could probably offer him regular football out of the Premier League trio.
The last thing Dembele needs at this stage in his career is to be sat on a bench somewhere.
If Lyon do consider selling the ex-Celtic man must choose his next club very carefully.
