Arsenal linked with £10m-rated player that Martin Known said ‘looked comfortable’ at Euro 2020
Arsenal are reportedly interested in Rangers star Glen Kamara this window, who’s someone that received big praise from Gunners legend Martin Keown at this summer’s Euro 2020 competition.
Give Me Sport claims that Arsenal are keen on re-signing the 25-year-old, as he started his senior career in north London.
Mikel Arteta’s side could focus on a move for him if they fail with other targets. The report adds Premier League rivals Everton and West Ham are keen on the Rangers midfielder.
Also, The Daily Mail said last month the Scottish giants want a fee of over £10million for him.
Kamara has proven his quality during two-and-a-half years at Ibrox, so links to England seem inevitable.
The Finland international is an all-action defensive midfielder that is technically sound. In addition, he’s got a combative approach to his tackling and intercepting. He is a dream for defence’s to have in front of them.
Keown singled out the Rangers ace during Euro 2020 in a performance for his country. He said on BBC One commentary during Finland’s opening game of the competition (12/06/21):
“You can see why [he’s been linked with the Premier League], he’s very disciplined. He’s performed well, he’s looked comfortable.”
Keown comment raise key point about experience of Arsenal target Glen Kamara
For all the quality performances he’s produced in a Rangers shirt domestically, there are always going to be concerns about whether that can translate into the Premier League.
Of course, there are shining examples, Virgil van Dijk the obvious one, of players thriving after switching Scottish football for the English top flight.
Kamara was an integral part of Steven Gerrard’s Rangers XI last season because of his tireless work for the title winners. However, he’s also been performing on a more elite level to encourage Arsenal.
The midfielder was outstanding during his club’s Europa League campaign last season, starting all 10 games for his side.
Also, he’s been pivotal on the international stage in 34 caps for Finland.
