Reported Arsenal target Said Benrahma has once again been left out of Brentford’s matchday squad amid continued speculation over his future.
The Bees winger is potentially hoping for the Gunners to formalise their interest as he hesitates over a potential switch to Crystal Palace, according to a 90Min report from earlier this week.
Arsenal and Brentford have reportedly been in discussions over David Raya, and at the end of August, 90Min claimed the North Londoners were eyeing a double deal for Benrahma and his teammate.
It remains to be seen whether Mikel Arteta and co proceed with their interest in the Algerian, given they are well stocked on the attacking flanks, but it looks unlikely that he’ll stay at Brentford by the time the window shuts.
The Bees were short of numbers last night for their League Cup match with Southampton, but despite this, Benrahma still didn’t make the matchday squad, opting to only put five substitutes on the bench.
Given how well Benrahma has done for Brentford – 17 goals and 10 assists from 46 Championship appearances en route to the playoff final last term, and being called “magnificent” by Thomas Frank – his omission from the Bees matchday squad suggests his time there is up.
The interest from the player in Arsenal certainly seems to be there, if reports are to be believed, but realistically, do the Gunners need anyone else on the attacking flanks, particularly for a reported £25million, considering the midfield is more of a pressing issue?
