Arsenal-linked £9m striker drops potential hint on his future after 27-goal season

Reported Arsenal target Odsonne Edouard may have just dropped a hint on his future following his superb season with Celtic.

According to The Mirror, the Gunners are interested in the highly rated 22-year-old, who has claimed an impressive 60 goals and 31 assists in 126 Hoops appearances.

Edouard has played for the Glasgow serial winners since the summer of 2017, when he initially joined on loan from Paris Saint-Germain.

He then joined the Bhoys permanently the following year for a club record £9million (Sky Sports) and has been a star in the green and white hoops.

This season just gone, the Frenchman scored 27 goals and 19 assists from 45 games in all competitions, and is now reported to have a £22million price tag (Defensa Central).

However, the Celtic Player of the Season’s recent comments suggested that he is focused on helping the Bhoys reach their long-held target of 10 Scottish Premiership titles in a row.

“Every season we want to win the title,” he told Celtic TV, as quoted by Sky Sports. “This year is nine in-a-row, and next year I hope it is 10 in-a-row. This will be historic for the club.

“It’s very important for the club, for the fans, for the team, for all of the staff. We now need to go back to work for next season, and I hope that we can win this title for 10 in-a-row.

“As for season highlights, the goal at Ibrox back in September is one of my best goals of the season, scored in an important game.

“I’m happy about that, and now I want go back to working hard, to try and score again against Rangers.”

Celtic’s record signing has been nothing short of sensational since arriving at Parkhead and his £9million fee seems a snip now, but surely it’s now only a matter of time before he ups sticks and heads to one of Europe’s elite clubs.

Arsenal, meanwhile, have endured a difficult season and, with questions over the futures of both Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette, Arteta could possibly need to dip into the market for a new frontman.

While Edouard’s comments seem to suggest that he sees his future at Celtic – at least the next 12 months anyway – who’s to say a big offer couldn’t sway him?
