Ian Wright delivers three-word Instagram verdict on 'brilliant' Arsenal star
Arsenal returned to winning ways by beating Newcastle 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium. The Gunners won the day thanks to goals from Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli. Afterwards, Ian Wright lauded the brilliance of Takehiro Tomiyasu.
The Japan international has taken the Premier League by storm. He has come into the club and immediately made the right-back spot his own.
Tomiyasu checked in from Bologna in the summer for a fee in the region of just £15 million. He chose the Gunners ahead of Tottenham and boy have Arsenal done a good deal.
The 23-year-old produced a truly wonderful assist for Arsenal’s second goal, scored by Martinelli for the first time this season.
It was Tomiyasu’s first goal contribution in the red and white of Arsenal and in truth, it’s been a long time coming.
The 28-time international has looked a threat going forwards all season and this will provide him with a timely confidence boost as the season progresses.
Tomiyasu made 64 appearances for the Serie A side before heading to the Premier League. He also showcased his ability to play centre-back during his time with the Italian club.
What has Arsenal legend Wright said about Tomiyasu?
It’s fair to say that he’s been impressed with his performance levels since he checked in at the Emirates Stadium. He has really stamped his authority on the team and supporters think they’ve got a gem.
Tomiyasu works his backside off in each game he plays for the Gunners and he’s also at a nice age to continue improving too.
Wright is renowned for messaging Arsenal players on social media after a strong performance. Yesterday, he opted to use just three words to sum up Tomiyasu.
The £57,000-a-week star will be delighted to have the seal of approval from an Arsenal great and he’ll hope to continue impressing in the team.
