Tottenham Hotspur have been dealt a thrashing in the Champions League by German champions Bayern Munich. Mauricio Pochettino’s side were torn apart by the Bavarians, eventually losing the game 7-2

Spurs took the lead through Heung-min Son after a bright start in North London but were hen punished for their lack of control in midfield and poor defensive positioning.

The star of the night was a former Arsenal player.

Serge Gnabry tore Tottenham right-back Serge Aurier apart down the left-hand side and was clinical in front of goal. He scored four of the seven goals as he again showed that Arsenal made a mistake letting him go.

Indeed, that was the sentiment Ian Wright appeared to be sharing on his Twitter feed after the game. The Arsenal legend sent out a message which appeared to lament the fact Gnabry was no longer a Gunner.

He was not alone, even a current Arsenal player had to sing the praises of Gnabry online. Hector Bellerin, who came through the youth ranks at The Emirates with the German suggested his level of performance was almost hilariously good.

Arsenal fans will no doubt be pleased that a former player managed to inflict so much punishment on their big rivals.

However, many will again be wondering why they did not manage to keep hold of him back in 2016.
