Premier League outfit Arsenal are thought to be considering a bid for Celtic star Kieran Tierney this week, according to The Daily Mail.
The Gunners are set to intensify their interest in the left-back by submitting a multi-million-pound offer.
It is thought that the Hoops are hopeful of recouping a fee similar to the £20 million which Lyon paid for Moussa Dembele last summer.
Tierney has played 170 games for the Hoops but could leave this summer if the club receives an acceptable offer.
It won’t be easy for the Gunners to negotiate, however. There is no Champions League incentive on the table for Arsenal to offer, whilst their absence from the competition will also decimate their transfer budget.
Arsenal are desperate for defensive reinforcements. Their rearguard at times last season was shocking and Unai Emery knows that must change.
If Arsenal can land Tierney without the lure of Champions League football it would be a massive coup.
Celtic could hold the Gunners are ransom, however, with their lack of funds well documented.
Neil Lennon may well welcome the cash to strengthen other areas of his squad and it will be interesting to see how this one plays out.
At 22-years-old Tierney would be a sound investment for the future.
His game is all about getting up and down the left flank and he should have all the attributes to prove a success in the Premier League.
