France Under-21s defeated their counterparts from England last night to give them a brilliant start to the European Championship.
Phil Foden opened the scoring for England before late goals from Nanitamo Ikone and an Aaron Wan-Bissaka own goal ensured French delight.
Arsenal fans were particularly interested in the performance of one man in particular.
Jeff Reine-Adelaide was operating on the right flank for France and he had a decent game.
The 21-year-old joined Angers on loan ahead of the 2017/18 campaign, before Arsenal allowed him to join permanently prior to last season.
His performance last night only served to frustrate the Gunners supporters. Many feel that he was allowed to leave club prematurely.
Having risen through the youth ranks at the Emirates he would play just eight times for the Arsenal first-team, all in cup competitions.
It was something of a kick in the teeth to some Gunners fans when he was allowed to move back to France.
Many were of the opinion that he could have a seriously bright future at the club and he is going some way towards proving the club wrong now.
Arsenal fans took to Twitter last night to vent their anger at the club for allowing him to leave.
We looked at some of the best tweets in response to Reine-Adelaide’s performance last night:
Reine adelaide is very good. Will be another regret for arsenal much like serge gnabry.

Jeff Reine-Adelaide looks like the type of young player Arsenal should be looking at…oh wait

This club is a shambles, how have we left Jeff Reine-Adelaide go for £1.5m?!

Jeff Reine Adelaide, can’t believe we let the french Pires go for free

It was Szczesny. It's now Gnabry. Next it will be Jeff Reine Adelaide I constantly complain about us selling.

We’ve made a few mistakes with our youth players the last few years. Losing Serge Gnabry is the prime example, but I also think letting Jeff Reine-Adelaide will end up looking a huge mistake. Such a talented young player. I hope we’ll put a stop to these poor decisions. #afc

Reine-Adelaide like Gnabry are two I’ll never understand why we let go

Arsenal should have put a buy back clause for Jeff Reine Adelaide

As if we sold Reine-Adelaide & Serge Gnabry for 60p.

Makes me so frustrated when I see ex Arsenal hopeful Jeff Reine-Adelaide playing so very well for France U21 midfield. Why he was released is still a mystery; and he is even ahead of Guendouzi who is on the bench.

Hard watching Reine-Adelaide playing for France u21s.
Serious potential. Really thought it would work out at Arsenal
