Arsenal reportedly made a move for West Ham United defender Issa Diop earlier in the summer, according to French outlet Foot Mercato.
The Gunners are trying desperately to bolster their defence and had held a conversation with the Hammers regarding Diop.
Arsenal baulked at West Ham’s demand for £65 million to prise the central defender away from the London Stadium.

Boss Unai Emery has added a defender to his ranks already this summer. William Saliba has signed for the Gunners, although he has returned to St Etienne on loan for the 2019/20 campaign.
Diop was in fine form for the Hammers last season missing just five league games.
The 22-year-old enforcer was a real bright spark in an otherwise mediocre campaign for West Ham and he is integral to Manuel Pellegrini’s team.
Following this latest development Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to discuss whether or not Diop would be a decent signing.

It is, of course, theoretical now and certainly, in the short-term, the Gunners won’t be targeting Diop.
Several supporters aren’t overly bothered by the club’s failure to land the man valued at £65 million by his current club.
