Arsenal beat Manchester United 1-0 at Old Trafford on Sunday to end their dismal run of results against ‘Big Six’ opposition away from home in the Premier League.

A Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang penalty was enough for the Gunners to take all three points, with Mikel Arteta coming in for huge praise for the way he set his team up.

Arsenal defended magnificently all game, with Gabriel Magalhaes again putting in a colossal performance at the back.

It was just the ticket for Arsenal, who were going into the game off the back of two straight defeats against Manchester City and Leicester.

Eyebrows were raised by some supporters about Arteta’s team selection that included Mohamed Elneny in midfield along with Thomas Partey.

The Egyptian has worked his way back into Arteta’s plans this season, and his showing against the Red Devils was finest this term.

He worked brilliantly as a unit with Partey, and the pair came in for praise from Arsenal Invincible Gilberto Silva after the game.

The Brazilian former midfield enforcer wrote on Twitter: “3 huge points. Elneny and Partey look like a powerful partnership. Congratulations @Arsenal.”

It really was a fantastic performance from the two central midfielders, who worked their socks off to protect the defence.

Partey especially was outstanding with Sky pundits Jamie Redknapp, Roy Keane and Tim Cahill singing the Ghanaian’s praises during the post-match coverage.

But Elneny may certainly have presented Arteta with a headache going forwards.
