Arsenal have made an approach to try sign teenager Emil Roback from Swedish top-flight club Hammarby IF.

Jesper Jansson, who is the Sporting director of Hammarby IF, has confirmed that there has been contact from both Arsenal and Bayern Munich in the 16-year-old star.

Jansson has confirmed to Futbol Direkt that the Gunners and German heavyweights Bayern are interested in the forward, with the Premier League team already meeting him.

Roback is an exciting young talent that players academy football for Hammarby IF, but has featured on the substitutes bench for the first-team already and is still waiting for his senior debut.

He’s represented his nation Sweden for the Under-16s side on the international stage and turns 17 in May.

TBR’s View:

Roback is a teenager that is unknown to English audiences, but the same could have been said about Gabriel Martinelli before he joined last summer.

The 18-year-old Brazilian attacker has enjoyed a brilliant individual first campaign at the Emirates Stadium, with 10 goals in just 26 senior appearances so far.

There is so much young quality running through Mikel Arteta’s squad at the moment and the Arsenal boss has shown he’s prepared to give players a chance, with Eddie Nketiah the latest to really benefit from that.
