Report: Arsenal insiders think their 'exceptional' player isn't actually 'injured' despite pulling up recently

Arsenal could be without Emile Smith Rowe this weekend against Brentford but there is good news on the injury front when it comes to the midfielder.

Smith Rowe pulled up in the warm down at Old Trafford last week in the latest of a long line of minor set backs for the England international. The young midfielder has seen his career stall a tad after losing his place in the Arsenal XI and with a World Cup around the corner, Smith Rowe will feel he might have missed his chance.

However, according to The Athletic, any notion that Smith Rowe will be missing for a long time are wide of the mark, with Arsenal insiders not even classing the current set back as an injury. It’s believed that Smith Rowe is simply suffering from a groin problem related to growing pains, rather than a direct injury.

With that, it’s believed Smith Rowe will return sooner rather than later with careful management and those at Arsenal even feel he could still push for a spot in the England squad for Qatar.

Smith Rowe will be hoping to use the next eight weeks to make an impression on Gareth Southgate if he can, having lost his place to Gabriel Martinelli.

TBR’s View: Smith Rowe Problems Bad Timing Again

It’s bad timing for the ‘exceptional‘ Smith Rowe in terms of England and it’s bad timing for the midfielder in terms of getting into the Arsenal fold as well.

Mikel Arteta still has high hopes for the midfielder and even though Martinelli is playing well, Smith Rowe’s versatility makes him a brilliant squad member for the Gunners boss.

However, time is a ticking for Smith Rowe this season and he’ll be hoping to get fit enough to play a big part in the campaign for the Gunners.
