Arsenal in talks to offload Arteta signing, discussions at an advanced stage - report
Arsenal are on the verge of parting company with Willian, according to numerous outlets.
The Daily Mail claims the Gunners and Corinthians are in advanced discussions over a move.
All parties are willing to do a deal, added the report.
Meanwhile, The Telegraph says Willian is “set” to join his former club from the north Londoners.
The 33-year-old started his career at the Brazilian club, based in Sao Paulo.
Arsenal about to correct 2020 mistake?
Willian arrived at the Emirates Stadium to much fanfare last summer after leaving Chelsea on a free transfer.
The attacking midfielder signed a three-year deal reportedly worth £220,000-a-week.
And Willian’s time at Arsenal began well enough, shining in the 2020-21 Premier League opening-day win over Fulham.
However, he has been average at best and downright poor at worst since then, struggling to justify the Gunners’ outlay on him.
Willian made 37 competitive appearances for Arsenal last term, including 16 starts in the Premier League.
But for how much the north Londoners were reportedly paying him salary-wise, he hasn’t done well enough.
Now, it looks as though the Gunners are finally preparing to go some way to correcting their mistake.
