Former Arsenal favourite Nwankwo Kanu believes teams are already running scared of Nicolas Pepe.
The Ivorian winger has been finding his feet in the Premier League and has shown glimpses of the talent that convinced the Gunners to agree a £72 million deal (BBC Sport) to sign him from Lille.
The 24-year-old has started the last couple of games in the league, and has made one assist so far.
Fans are excited to see how good he can become playing alongside the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette in attack, and ex-striker Kanu has also bought into the hype.
He told Goal: “He’s got fast feet and I think he can unlock teams. He can score and he can assist.
“I think he will do well for us because now he is getting more game time and I believe he will complement the other two strikers.
“If you watch him you can see he is a really good footballer and his feet are very quick. He is going to score goals and he is going to play well. I believe that teams are already afraid of him after a few games.”
Pepe will surely start to turn it on now that he’s had a feel for the Premier League.
The Gunners have some largely favourable fixtures coming up and it’s a chance for him to get off the mark in terms of goals.
Kanu is right – so far, it has looked like defenders are very wary of Pepe, whose blistering pace is going to be a pain to try and defend against.
