Arsenal fans buzzing as Henrikh Mkhitaryan signs for Roma

Arsenal had a busy summer transfer window in terms of incoming deals with Dani Ceballos, Nicolas Pepe, Kieran Tierney and David Luiz all signing for the club.

Offloading players proved slightly more problematic and in certain cases, the Gunners have been forced to wait for European teams to finish moulding their squads.

One man has departed the club today, however, that will delight a lot of Arsenal supporters.

Armenian international Henrikh Mkhitaryan was part of the deal which saw Alexis Sanchez join Manchester United back in 2018.

Today he joined Roma on loan for the 2019/20 campaign (Official Website), delighting supporters in the process.

His Arsenal career may have gone slightly better than Sanchez’s at United, but nonetheless he’s hardly set the Emirates Stadium alight.

He has made 59 appearances for the Gunners, scoring nine goals and registering 13 assists.

Mkhitaryan has failed to nail down a regular place in the side and joining the Serie A outfit perhaps hands him the fresh start he is desperately craving.

Following the club’s decision to offload the man with 84 international caps, supporters have taken to Twitter to discuss the departure.
