Arsenal have agreed personal terms with Juventus defender Daniele Rugani ahead of a potential loan deal, according to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla.
They report that Arsenal have beaten Wolves to the punch over the 25-year-old, and have their sights set on a two-year loan deal before the deadline tomorrow.
The report says that there is a 4 million euro (£3.7 million) loan fee per season, with the potential to buy the Italian for 40 million euros (£37 million) afterwards.
Arsenal need a new central defender who can come in this season and help out with William Saliba not arriving at the Emirates until he has completed another campaign on loan with Saint Etienne.

Arsenal’s transfer window has sparked into life in recent weeks and getting Rugani over the line would be the ideal way to give their defence a boost ahead of the new campaign.
He is a hugely talented defender, who simply finds himself shunted down the Juventus pecking order because of the signing of Matthijs de Ligt and experienced heads carrying on deep into their career.
At 25, he has plenty of time to improve and two years at Arsenal could see him mature into a solid Premier League defender who is also very comfortable with the ball at his feet.
