Arsenal have been tracking German midfielder, Julian Draxler, for some time now and the latest reports emerging from France suggest that the Gunners could finally have an opening to land the PSG man.
Draxler has been a long-term target for Arsenal. Linked on more than one occasion in the past, reports as recently as April suggested the Gunners were already looking into concluding a deal for the German.
However, things have been quiet since then thanks to the global situation. But, the door for Arsenal to move for Draxler may just have been opened wider than ever in their favour.
That is because Le10 Sport claims that PSG supremo, Leonardo, is actively seeking to move Draxler on. This, despite the player apparently having no interest in moving before the end of his contract in 2021.
This, then, could well play into Arsenal’s hands as they look for new players this summer.
An ideal Ozil replacement, Draxler has so much to offer
Despite making just eleven appearances this season for PSG, Draxler has long been regarded as a massive talent in terms of European midfielders.
And that is what Arsenal need to be looking at. They need to be looking to unlock that potential. At 26, Draxler is at the point in his career where he really needs to kick on.
He needs to put the days of trouble behind him. Indeed, he fell out with former Gunners boss, Unai Emery, criticising his tactics on more than one occasion, including after going out of the Champions League against Real Madrid.
With Mesut Ozil’s future still uncertain, Orkun Kokcu signing a new deal with Feyenoord, and Dani Ceballos likely to go back to Spain, there is a gap for Draxler.
Surely, then, the time is now if Arsenal are to finally land the 26-year-old midfielder.
