Somehow, after years of discussing this topic, West Ham still need a striker.
Danny Ings, Gianluca Scamacca and Sebastien Haller have all tried and failed to fill the number nine void at West Ham, and David Moyes still needs a new centre-forward.
Luckily, the January transfer window is open and West Ham are on the lookout for a new attacker.
Speaking on the Ranks FC Ultras Podcast, Dean Jones has shared an update on this hunt, and he says that the east London club have sounded out a move for Arsenal’s Eddie Nketiah, but, unfortunately, they haven’t received a positive response from the Gunners.

Arsenal knock West Ham back over Nketiah
Jones shared what he’s heard about the ‘brilliant’ striker.
“They’re checking out the market, looking for value and seeing if they can find someone who can raise the level of their frontline. I know they did sound out Eddie Nketiah just like Crystal Palace have, they didn’t get a good response, but that shows they’re looking,” Jones said.
Wait and see
Arsenal may have knocked West Ham back for Nketiah at this point, but that isn’t to say that their stance couldn’t change later in the transfer window.
Indeed, the Gunners continue to be linked with a move for Ivan Toney, and if they can get that deal over the line, that could free Nketiah up to move on.
Of course, West Ham do face competition from Crystal Palace, as Jones says, but, at the same time, with the Hammers playing in Europe and hoping to, once again, gatecrash the top six, it shouldn’t be too difficult for David Moyes’s side to outmuscle the Eagles in this transfer battle.
Nketiah may well be looking for a move towards the end of this month, and if he is, don’t be shocked if West Ham do go back in for him.
