Report: Arsenal step up Vlahovic pursuit and have now lodged near £60m bid

Arsenal are continuing to plough on in their pursuit of the excellent Fiorentina striker, Dusan Vlahovic, and have now reportedly offered the £60m it could take to prize him away from the Italian side.

The Vlahovic saga has been one of the longest running of the summer so far. Arsenal, Tottenham, and Juventus are all said to be keen on the Serbian. But it is clear he will leave Fiorentina and per Repubblica, their ownership and president are now willing to let the big striker leave.

Arsenal have also thought about offering Lucas Torreira as part of any deal for Vlahovic. But this report from Repubblica today suggests Arsenal might be willing to meet the asking price, regardless. Of course, Fiorentina’s openness to selling Vlahovic might encourage others.

But Arsenal will grow in confidence here. Vlahovic’s entourage are expected to make an announcement on his future in the coming days. That could tell everyone, including Arsenal, a lot about what the next step is.

TBR’s View: Arsenal On Course For Vlahovic, Finally?

This really does seem to be an open goal in some ways for the Gunners. It seems they are ready to put up the money and Vlahovic is wanting out of Fiorentina. Of course, he will take some convincing if there are others sniffing.

It has been suggested by multiple sources that he likes the idea of Juventus. However, they are not yet ready to stump up the cash and Arsenal seemingly have the money to act.

It would be a statement signing for Arteta. Getting Vlahovic would allow the club to not worry about losing Lacazette and Aubameyang. And that was always a big problem going into this summer.
