Under Mikel Arteta, Arsenal have made a habit of recruiting from within the Premier League.
The summer before last, Arsenal signed both Kai Havertz and Declan Rice for huge fees, two deals which have been a big success.
And although it’s not quite at the same level of expense, Arsenal are close to signing Christian Norgaard from Brentford.
It’s a method which nullifies a lot of risk, and whilst Arsenal will seemingly look abroad to sign a striker in the coming months, they may also continue to utilise the English market in other areas.
Right now, it’s thought that Rodrygo is Arsenal’s priority target when it comes to signing a winger this summer, however, the Gunners have found a suitable alternative closer to home.
Arsenal have spoken to West Ham about signing Mohammed Kudus
According to reliable journalist Sami Mokbel who was appearing on the Latte Firm podcast, Arsenal have actually made an enquiry to sign West Ham United’s Mohammed Kudus.
Asked about Arsenal’s alternatives to Rodrygo, Mokbel initially seemed to share his hunch that Arsenal had asked about Kudus recently.
But after delving into the topic further, the journalist then seemed very confident that a recent enquiry had been made.
Mokbel said: “It wouldn’t shock me if Arsenal had made a call about, or an enquiry for Mohammed Kudus.

“Because there’s been interest there in the past and my information on Kudus is that all of the top six in the Premier League have checked in on the conditions of that deal.
“He’s obviously got an £85m release clause to Premier League clubs but I think West Ham would be willing to take below that.
“Because they need to reinvest basically, they need money to reinvest into the squad — they wouldn’t take masses below that, but they would certainly be open to a negotiation.
“So Kudus is an interesting one because there is long-term interest there, and as I understand it, there has been an enquiry as I say from the Premier League’s top six, which Arsenal are one of them.
“So maybe that is one to watch in the absence of getting Rodrygo or Gordon as we’ve already set out — it’s going to be hard to get either of those deals over the line.”

Arsenal should still prioritise Rodrygo over Mohammed Kudus
Whilst Kudus’ performances for West Ham have made it obvious that he’s brimming with talent, he might not be the right signing for Arsenal this summer.
The Ghana international is left-footed and arguably performs best as a right winger or as a number 10 — two areas in which Arteta already has firm starters.
Kudus could provide seriously strong back-up to Bukayo Saka on the right, but Arsenal would be much better-served directing those funds towards their left wing.
And by most accounts, Rodrygo could be the best left winger available to Arsenal this summer, even if they might have to be patient to seal a deal.
Rodrygo won’t leave Real Madrid until August even if he does decide that it’s time for a new challenge.
And perhaps Arsenal are best off signing a striker and then revisiting their left wing conundrum.
