Arsenal have cause for concern with Nunez in talks over Tottenham move

Arsenal have seemingly been given cause for concern as they reportedly look to sign Darwin Nunez, with reports on Monday claiming that Jorge Mendes has held talks with a striker about a move to Tottenham Hotspur.

The Gunners are set to prioritise a new striker in the summer with Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah out of contract at the Emirates at the end of the season.

Nunez is one of the names on the club’s radar. In fact, Football London reported at the weekend that Edu has been in contact with his representatives regarding a move to North London.

However, Edu is not the only figure looking to bring Nunez to the capital. Unfortunately for Arsenal, the other person working on a deal is trying to get the Benfica star a move to Tottenham.

The Athletic claimed this week that Mendes is in talks with Nunez, as well as Tammy Abraham, about replacing Harry Kane should the Spurs talisman leave. Clubs such as Manchester United want the England captain this summer.

It is noted that Mendes is working on his own accord. However, he enjoys a good relationship with Daniel Levy and Fabio Paratici.

Huge blow for Arsenal if Tottenham go on and manage to sign Nunez

Of course, much has to change before Tottenham make a move for Nunez. Kane would probably have to leave. And Spurs would then presumably have to strike a deal with Mendes.

But clearly, it may worry Arsenal that he could head elsewhere. They do have other targets, including Abraham. But Nunez has been ‘world-class‘ this season, with 20 goals in 22 league games.

Missing out on Nunez would be a big shame for Arsenal. Watching him head to Tottenham may be devastating for some.
